Get ready to put your concrete skills to the ultimate test! The ConcreTech at ICI TechBloom 26 challenges participants to prepare a concrete mix of a specific grade and demonstrate precision in conducting the standard slump test. With accuracy, teamwork, and safety at the core, this hands-on contest blends practical knowledge with competitive spirit—celebrating the science and art of concrete mix design.

Team Composition:

• Each team may consist of 1 or 2 members.
• Only registered participants are allowed to perform the test.

Registration process:

• Participants must first pay the registration fee.
• After payment, participants must complete the ICI TechBloom 26 Registration Form to confirm their participation.

Apparatus & Materials:

• Standard Slump Cone (300 mm height, 200 mm base diameter, 100 mm top diameter).
• Tamping rod (600 mm long, 16 mm dia, rounded end).
• Measuring scale (minimum 300 mm).
• Concrete mix (freshly prepared) with 1 Trowel & 1 Tagari provided to all teams.
• All apparatus must conform to IS: 1199 or ASTM C143 standards.

Test Procedure:

The following steps must be strictly followed:

• Place the cone on a smooth, rigid, non-absorbent surface.
• Hold the cone firmly by the footrests/handles during filling.
• Strike off the excess concrete level from the top.
• Lift the cone vertically upwards in 5–10 seconds, without jerks.
• Measure the slump immediately as the difference between the cone height and the displaced concrete top.

Event Duration:

• Total Time Allowed: 20 minutes (including preparation and test).
• Each team will be given only one trial.

Venue Instructions:

• Teams must report 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
• No entry will be allowed 10 minutes after the start of the event.
• Use of mobile phones is not allowed during the event.

Evaluation Criteria:

• Step-wise marking will be followed.
• Judges’ decision will be final and binding.

Disqualification Criteria:

A team will be disqualified if:

• Spillage, improper tamping, or lifting with jerks is observed.
• Unsafe practices are followed.
• Rules regarding time and procedure are not respected.

Safety Regulations:

• All participants must wear gloves and shoes.
• No open footwear or loose clothing is allowed.
• The work area must be kept dry and slip-free.

Judging & Results:

• Judges may stop any team if unsafe practices are observed.
• Results will be announced after all teams complete their test.
